Method

The engine sums user-entered rectangular project areas, determines single-tile coverage from user-entered dimensions or coverage, applies the selected allowance, rounds required tiles upward, then optionally rounds selected product packages upward.

Worked example

The starting worksheet measures 120 ft². With the selected 10% allowance and 12 in × 24 in tile, it needs 66 calculated tiles, 66 whole tiles, and 9 packages of eight.

Planning considerations

Tile layout, diagonal patterns, complex cuts, grout-joint dimensions, breakage, matching lots, and installer practices can change the quantity you choose to purchase. Confirm product coverage and package details before ordering.
